又作迦葉摩騰， 中天竺人， 能解大小乘經， 漢明帝遣蔡愔等往天竺求法， 遇之， 永平十年， 與竺法蘭至洛陽， 譯四十二章經， 為印度高僧蒞華傳法之第一人。
